About Us

IF IT is news on the Myall Coast, you’ll read about it in the NOTA.

NOTA literally stands for News of the Area.

It is a free, weekly publication distributed each Thursday with a circulation of 4200 and covers the towns of Tea Gardens, Hawks Nest, Karuah, Bulahdelah and surrounding areas.

Each week the paper reports on what matters to these communities including local news, community events and sport.

There is also a section for contributed news from community groups.

Community news can be emailed to the NOTA or handed in at our office at Myall Quays in Tea Gardens.

The NOTA has been archiving the history of the Myall Coast for close to half a century.

It is believed the paper first started as a few A4 sized sheets back in the late 1960s.
During the NOTA's early days it was printed and published by the Hawks Nest Tea Gardens Progress Association.

The NOTA was once a Rural Press paper but is now run by Fairfax. The communities in which the paper circulates have had strong ties to the publication throughout the years and rely heavily on it for their local news.
