Karuah hotel ram-raided

14 Jul, 2010 04:14 PM
KARUAH Hotel has suffered thousands of dollars worth of damage after it was ram-raided in the early hours of Monday morning.

Port Stephens police were called to a break-in at the hotel at about 3.50am after a car was driven into the front doors, causing an estimated $10,000 worth of damage. The owner of the hotel was also on the scene after the alarm went off.

Police said three or four people stole a substantial amount of alcohol. Before leaving, the thieves also tried to steal cigarettes but failed.

Police suspect it was a stolen car used to break-in. Investigations are underway and police are looking at CCTV footage from the hotel.
