A good Aussie read Great Lakes Style

08 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
GREAT Lakes Library Service wants to find out what residents think are the greatest Australian books of all time.

With the launch of The National Year of Reading on February 14, Tea Gardens Library along with other libraries in the Great Lakes area will be holding a Greatest Books of All Time competition.

"In 2010 we held a Greatest Books of All Time competition, and it was hugely popular" manager of library services Chris Jones said.

"This time we're being more patriotic. Residents will be voting on a list of amazing Australian novels. And because we know there have been so many great

Australian children's books too, people can vote on them as well."

Mr Jones said what he loved most about the competition was that it belonged to the community.

"It will be the greatest Australian books of all time - Great Lakes style."

People can pick up a voting form from any branch library in Great Lakes or they can go online and fill out the survey form at : www.greatlakes.nsw.gov.au/library . Voting closes at 5pm on Friday June 1 and the winning titles will be announced at an event held in Forster Library on Monday September 17.
