Accident at dangerous intersection

17 Dec, 2008 08:55 AM
AN accident at the intersection of Myall St and Myall Quays Blvd in Tea Gardens caused disruption to Saturday morning traffic.

A young female driver hit the back of a Land Cruiser ute which had stopped and was waiting to turn into Myall Quays Boulevard.

The p-plater’s car required towing but no one was hurt.

Police and ambulance personnel from Tea Gardens attended the scene.

The intersection has caused tension between Great Lakes Council and residents who fear a major accident will occur.

Changes to the intersection have been included in the Tea Gardens Future Traffic Management Plan, but some residents believe council is not acting fast enough.

A number of drivers perform illegal turns at the intersection to gain access to the BP service station.

At the November council meeting, councillors referred the issue back to the traffic committee for guidance as to the best way to address the problems in the area.
