MEMBERS of the Myall River Action Group have met with Great Lakes Council and engineering and environment consultants BMT WBM Pty Ltd, as part of the final stage of a study into the health of the Myall River.
Spokesperson for the action group, Gordon Grainger said they expect have a close involvement during the study and that the consultants intend on discussing historical input from members of the community.
During the meeting the group pointed out that sand has completely covered any sea grass growing under and around the Singing Bridge.
The meeting included an inspection of Corrie Island, the Winda Woppa peninsula and along the Boulevard.
The study, expected to be complete by December, will follow the patterns of sand movement, the effect it is having on the river flow and if it is impacting on the health of the river.
It is the second part of a study into the river, jointly funded by the NSW Government and council.
A draft report detailing the results is expected to be available by February 2011.
