All aboard the roadshow to celebrate Youth Week

27 Mar, 2007 09:00 AM
TO spread the Youth Week fun that little bit further, a roadshow has been planned to visit eight different locations in April.

Homebase Youth Service is working with Great Lakes Council, Community Services to present the Great Lakes Youth Week Roadshow presenting a van of fun to each community.

The roadshow will open each day at 11am at a particular venue with a barbecue at noon.

The program will also be used to showcase artworks entered in the Express Your Community art competition.

The day will present local entertainment including music, poetry, dance, games and so on.

The roadshow will also be presenting a campaign encouraging older community members to listen to young people and also to encourage young people to communicate with the older generation.

At each community the program will also include a graffiti competition in order to create an opportunity to promote healthy self expression to young people.

Organisers are requiring a great deal of support from each community in order for the event to be a success.

They require sponsorship from local businesses to contribute prizes and various materials such as spray paint for the graffiti competition and the contribution of local entertainers to put on a diverse show from noon to 2pm and promote the skills and talents of the Great Lakes.
