Anna Bay fisherman found dead off Hawks Nest

21 Feb, 2012 08:21 AM
Mystery surrounds the death of a Port Stephens man found off Hawks Nest last night.

A fisherman found the 29-year-old Anna Bay man in the water between Corrie Island and Winda Woopa, Hawks Nest, suffering lacerations to his stomach and legs.

The fisherman pulled the man into his boat and started CPR however he couldn’t be revived.

The man’s boat was located doing circles in the water nearby.

An hour earlier the man had been spotted on his seven-metre fishing boat travelling from Nelson Bay to Tea Gardens to go prawning.

Water Police officers from Port Stephens said early investigations suggest the death is not suspicious.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
