Bass bash catches its biggest field of anglers

WITH 301 registrations, the 2010 Bulahdelah Bass Bash was the biggest yet.

The renowned catch and release competition took place February 13 and 14, with both junior and senior competitions. Taking out the prize for the Biggest Bass, sponsored by Caltex and Leplure Lures, winning the Gordon Leplaw Trophy was Rod Berry, his catch weighing in at 1.4kg.

This was closely followed by Dave Fenny with 1.3kg and D.Owens with 1.23kg.

In the next section, Biggest Other Species, sponsored by Royce Dorney’s Saw Mill, was Adam Lewis with a 0.710kg mullet.

Also catching mullet was Tony Lilley, coming at second with 0.62kg and third place going to Paul Shultz, 0.345kg.

First place for the Biggest Bream sponsored by Fiddens Seadfood Tea Gardens went to Carol Carrall at 1.010kg, while J Fidden secured second place with 0.865kg.

In the juniors, Aidan Bills took out the Vince Malone trophy for the biggest bass with 1.8kg.

Cooper Haynes came in at second with 0.505kg and third went to Cassidy Dodsworth with 0.345kg.

Coming equal first for the Biggest Bream, both Lewis Dorney and Braydon Dorney’s catch weighed in at 0.66kg, with Andrew Keenan taking second at 0.5kg.

Mightest Mullet went to Jayden Lilley with 1.105kg, followed by Toby Watt with 1kg and Stuart Smith in third place with 0.875kg.

Topline Roofing Eel Classic Perpetual Trophy, sponsored by Billy Moseley went to Jayden Dorney 5.535kg, Tye Barry 3.245kg, Brad Keaton 2.965kg, Billy Watt 2.740kg, Jordan Gregory 2.635kg and Sophie Dorney 2.240kg.

The encouragement award, sponsored by MRM Powerlines went to Mick Shultz and Broden Nassif.
