 Beach project reaches dredging stage

Beach project reaches dredging stage

28 May, 2008 10:41 AM
WORK on the renourishment of Jimmy’s Beach is continuing.

Dredging has moved into full swing at Jimmy’s Beach following the initial setting up and testing step which has been carried out since the start of the year.

The dredge will be working in the borrow area at Yaccaba Headland for the next six to eight weeks to deposit sand across from the Boulevard in Hawks Nest.

The sections of the beach undergoing dredging and sand placement will be barricaded and sign posted.

Access to the headland has been maintained however through designated tracks.

If you are using the beach at either end of the operation, please obey the signs and keep out of the fenced area for the duration as council seeks to keep the project on track for the July completion.

The project has been coordinated for this time of year, to minimise impact on anglers, tourists and environmental issues.

Great Lakes Council would like to thank the public for its consideration.
