THE body, believed to be that of a 32-year-old man who went missing off Port Stephens on Sunday, has been located by police divers.
The man went missing after doing a backflip off the side of a 46ft Cresta vessel moored at a public mooring at Fame Cove.
The man surfaced for a short period before disappearing underwater after 3pm.
Police were informed and about 7.15am on Monday launched a search of the area, until divers attached to the Marine Area Command located the man’s body about 9.50am.
The body has been taken to Newcastle Morgue for formal identification and police will prepare a report for the information of the coroner.
