The Tea Gardens Hawks Nest and Karuah Medical Transport bus has just been re-vamped.
A new bus with new sign-writing has been provided to the service which transports patients free of charge to their medical appointments in Raymond Terrace, Maitland and Newcastle.
The new bus seats 10 people and is driven by volunteers in the community.
The bus travels to Raymond Terrace and Maitland on a Tuesday and to Raymond Terrace and Newcastle on a Thursday.
“The service allows those people who can’t get into town for medical or dental to travel in,” organiser Anne Fowler said.
The service runs for morning appointments only each week and carers are able to travel with the patients.
Over the past year Anne and Geoff Flower have taken on organising the service.
Last year 147 patients were taken to their appointments by 18 community volunteers who drove the bus.
If anyone in the community is interested in helping with the clinic bus the annual general meeting will be held on March 10 in the blue room at the Tea Gardens Hotel.
If you need to use the clinic bus to travel to an appointment during the morning phone Anne or Geoff on 040 3657 195.
