Comet a sight to behold

23 Jan, 2007 03:17 PM
HEADS were cast skyward across the Myall just after sunset last week with observers keen to catch a glimpse of C/2006 P1 or, as it has become known, McNaught's Comet.

A Coonabarabran astronomer, Robert H McNaught is credited with discovering what could be the comet of the century.

The comet has proved to be far more of a spectacle than the 1986 visit of Halley's Comet and Hale-Bop Comet in 1997.
