WITH plenty of displays, talks, walks and a guaranteed crowd of voters, Walk on the Wild Side, has been hailed a success this year.
Run solely by the Myall Coast Chamber of Commerce in previous years, the community faced with the prospect of the event being on hold until next year. However, various community groups came together to make sure it went ahead.
Ian Morphett who was on the organising committee, said while there are plenty of things to work on for next year, everyone felt the new approach worked.
“We felt the weekend was worth doing,” Mr Morphett said.
“The feeling and vibe of the weekend was very positive. It was a community activity rather than a commercial one and everyone helped each other out rather then thinking about the money that could be made.”
A variety of activities were held over the weekend, including a spotlight walk on Friday night, a U3A art exhibition, stalls and displays from various community groups and walks and talks on the natural attractions of the area.
