A MAN has been charged with high range drink driving and had his licence confiscated on the spot after he was discovered behind the wheel after an apparent accident.
Police noticed a ute sitting south in the northbound lane at the Myall Way intersection of the Pacific Highway on October 31.
There were skid marks at the intersection and a road sign had been destroyed.
The driver was breath tested and returned a reading five times over the legal limit (.220).
A second man who was also in the car swore and yelled at police. Both men were taken to Tea Gardens Police Station. The driver will face court in Raymond Terrace on drink driving charges, while the passenger was fined $150 for swearing in public.
