SIX THOUSAND jobs will become available in Tea Gardens to construct the Crighton Properties' Riverside development, if it's given the green light by the Department of Planning.
Among other plans the Crighton Group will invest $8 million dollars into the community for roadways and cycle tracks plus an additional $4.5 million on the embellishment of Marine Drive, the establishment of new playing fields in Tea Gardens and new signage at the highway turnoff.
The $73 million dollar housing and tourist development will combine business, residential and tourist style accommodation in Tea Gardens north.
Managing Director of the Crighton Group, Geoff Cox said the development has been earmarked for multi zoning use with 25 per cent set aside for tourism and business.
“The proposal is a master plan for the Myall Keys. With 600acres of land we are only using 45 per cent of the site for residential purposes the remaining land has been set aside for conservation purposes including koala corridors and parks.”
With council projecting the Tea Gardens Hawks Nest population will increase to 10,000 in over 20 years time Mr Cox said the estate will home 2,100 permanent residents.
“We had a lot of concerns that people didn’t want another Central Coast and we are very sensitive to ensuring we preserve the natural beauty of Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest,” he said.
“We don’t want another high rise medium density estate this is a low density development.”
The Riverside development proposal is currently display in the council chambers.
The Crighton Group will hold a public meeting at the Hawks Nest community centre on Wednesday March 11 at 7pm. All members of the community are welcome.
