District governor inducts lioness

27 Nov, 2008 10:20 AM
TEA Gardens Hawks Nest Lioness club hosted a combined Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Lions and Lioness district governors dinner meeting at A’Beez during November.

District governor Ann Ryan called an executive meeting prior to the dinner and was very excited with the achievements of both clubs in this small community.

During the evening Ann inducted new lioness Billie Baillie, who was sponsored by lioness Pam Gilchrist.

This was the first time that the district governor had inducted a lioness and she was very excited.

The lions and lioness tail twisters out did themselves with their games and jokes creating a lot of laughter and merriment during the evening.

The lioness are already preparing for our next major event, the Australia Day Breakfast held each year on the Hawks Nest river front.

This is always a big event with breakfast barbecue, drinks, entertainment, games for the children, Royal Australian Air Force flyover, flag raising ceremony and the presentation of citizen and youth of the year.

Whilst the primary aim of lions and lionesses is to help others, it is not just about raising funds and providing community service.

Being a lion or lioness opens new doors to a network of friends.
