IF you know of an unsung senior on the Myall Coast who contributes to our community without muss or fuss now is your chance to see them recognised.
Nominations for the 2010 NSW Seniors Week Achievement Award have opened and Nationals Member for Myall Lakes, John Turner MP is calling on residents to dob in a deserving recipient.
“I am very proud of the large number of seniors of the Myall Lakes Electorate who cheerfully volunteer many hours in a variety of ways to enrich our local community,” he said.
Mr Turner said the NSW Seniors Week Achievement Awards recognise seniors across the state for their contribution to the development of the community and their leadership and initiative.
“The awards provide an opportunity to formally thank older people for the contributions they make to their communities and to NSW.”
Up to 60 awards are available for outstanding nominations. A group or an individual can be nominated in either business, intergenerational understanding, environment/ science/ agriculture, health and wellbeing, education/ lifelong learning and community service/ volunteering.
Following an independent panel assessment of the nominations winners will be presented with their awards at a ceremony in Sydney during March 2010. NSW Seniors Week will be held from March 21 to 28, 2010.
