Driving towards a new design for Tea Gardens

03 Oct, 2007 08:22 AM
A meeting held at Great Lakes Council offices in Forster on Wednesday, September 26, looked at the future traffic conditions on Myall St, Marine Dve and Myall Way in Tea Gardens.

Brian Kerwick from RoadNet has consulted with council to look at the traffic needs of the area for the next 25 years.

Representatives from community groups were invited to a meeting to voice their ideas about the traffic needs of the town.

“We need to start looking at the situation and the traffic flows now,” councillor Len Roberts said.

A strong suggestion was Myall St be by-passed from the bottom of Myall Way around the back of the school before joining up at the bridge.

The meeting looked at all aspects of traffic flow in the area with particular attention to pedestrian crossing in Myall Way, a way to slow vehicles down, strong support was given to one way traffic in marine Dve, catering for delivery vans and alfresco dining and an upgrade of signs in the area.

Brian will now come up with plans for the area including the suggestions that were made at the meeting.

The plans will then be put up for public exhibition before a further meeting is held to discuss the traffic flow.
