Entertaining funds distributed within community

18 Jan, 2008 06:43 AM
The Tea Gardens Hawks Nest community has once again benefited from the generosity of a community based, volunteer group within the area.

The Myall Coast Entertainers recently held a meeting in which it was decided that the club was in a financial position to donate money back into the community

Local groups were chosen who could in turn help the wider community by using the funds.

The RSL Sub Branch, Neighbour Aid, Myall Dolphins Centre Based Respite, Tea Gardens Primary School, the Westpac Helicopter and the Tea Gardens Rural Bushfire Brigade have all benefited from donations made by the entertainers.

“It has been rewarding to be able to give back to the community after all the hard work,” Myall Coast Entertainers secretary Carla Sunner said.

The RSL Sub Branch will use the funds for improvements for the sign and the touch and tell boxes that are due to the placed in the park before Anzac Day.

“It is all going back into the community,” RSL Sub Branch vice president Dick Angel said.

Neighbour Aid will also use the funds to benefit the wider community by purchasing a wheelchair to replace one that has been lost.

The new wheelchair will be part of an equipment loan pool in which wheelchairs, shower chairs and walking aids are lent out to community members for a short period of time.
