Food for library fines helps salvos

05 Dec, 2006 03:01 PM
IN true Christmas spirit the library has come up with a novel way for people to clear outstanding overdue fines.

The library will accept reasonable donations of suitably tinned or sealed items of food in lieu of payment for standard overdue fines.

This food will then be delivered to the Salvation Army to distribute through the community.

The "Food for Fines" project will run for the month of December, operating out of the Forster and Tea Gardens Libraries.

Of course, people don't need to have fines to participate.

The library staff will happily accept any donations of food towards the Salvo's cause.

So why not wipe your slate clean. Help the library to help the Salvos, who then help those within our community.

Giving is what Christmas is all about.
