TEA Gardens police are warning complacent residents to either drink or drive – not both.
In four random checks over five days four drivers were pulled over by police each returning a positive breath test. Around 2.30am last Sunday morning a vehicle travelling north from the Central Coast to Forster lost control leaving the roadside hitting an embankment. The female driver and her passenger were uninjured however she did return 0.08 on a blood alcohol test and her licence suspended on the spot.
Two days earlier police stopped a 45-year-old Pindimar man on Myall Rd who blew a low range reading of .08. Later that night a 46-year-old woman travelling on Tarean Rd to Karuah had her licence suspended on the spot after returning .110 on a random breath test. Adding to police concern over the rate of drink drivers on the Myall Coast a 51-year-old man was pulled over, just days later, returning .160 with a suspension on the spot.
Tea Gardens police constable Dave Coyle said if you decide to drink it will only be a matter of time before you are caught.
“If you are going to drink get someone to pick you up.
“You will eventually get caught its just law of averages. You may not get stopped every day but it’s only a matter of time before you do.”
