Friday night FAME opening

23 Oct, 2008 08:43 AM
AN exhibition with a difference will be showcased at the Tea Gardens Hotel Motel in conjunction with the Myall River Festival.

For the second year the Focus on the Artists of the Myall Exhibition (FAME) will hold its opening night on the Friday before the festival and continue over the weekend.

This year local artists Julianne Gosper, Emma Horne and Hannah Matilda will present their work.

“The three local artists were chosen for their differing styles of painting,” Myall River Festival coordinator Shona Hunter Howarth said.

Ms Gosper has been actively involved within a number of children’s art projects within the community and was the guiding artist for the mural project.

Hannah Matilda is currently looking at opening her own gallery, Rainbow Ridge Gallery, while Ms Horne is a recent high school graduate.

Ms Horne majored in art throughout her schooling and her year 12 work was accepted into Art Express; an exhibition of the best artworks submitted for the Higher School Certificate.

“The exhibition is allowing us to highlight works other than those we normally sell,” Hannah Matilda said.

Looking at a new way to display their works Hannah Matilda said the exhibition will be a bit different to the norm around town.

With only three artists on display community members can focus more closely on their work, raising their profile as professional artists.

The FAME exhibition and sale will open from 6pm on Friday, October 24, with champagne and nibbles.
