From Swan Bay to Swan river

21 May, 2009 08:57 AM
THE Myall River is becoming confused with Swan Bay as tens of swans have begun congregating in its waters.

The birds have been seen in large numbers on the river during dawn and dusk.

A spokesperson for the National Parks and Wildlife said the swans were in search of food.

“It’s a fairly normal occurrence, the birds are following their food source – sea grass. They travel to wherever it is and that means they usually congregate in large numbers.”

While swans mate for life some residents can vouch for domestics among the group, overhearing squabbles in the very early hours of a morning.
