A GAMES night was hosted by the Tea Gardens Lions Club during November, to raise money for community projects.
Several of the projects are closer to fruition including a much needed children’s playground on the Tea Gardens waterfront after $2003 was raised.
Refreshments and a sausage sizzle started the night before lions Steve Webb and Gary Edmonds began the games.
A number of guessing games kept players entertained while the guessing games tested their skill and reduced cash reserves.
The main prize on the night was a $300 cash prize in a poker game using poker chips provided as part of the entry fee for the night.
There were some interesting hands played by the novices in the group and some early exits from the tables after rash increases with the fun money.
Several silent auctions were held for a number of prizes donated by businesses in Tea Gardens Hawks Nest and Raymond Terrace.
A replica pair of Bathurst 1000 winning Ford cars, created in minute detail and raced in 2005 by the Craig Lowndes Team raised a winning bid of $400.
The food for the night was donated by local businesses and cooked by lion’s members.
The hall hire and bus was donated by the Masonic Lodge and the Tea Gardens Hotel donated the gaming tables and playing chips, giving the venue a professional look.
The lions club wish to thank the businesses who contributed to the donations of good and services for the night.
