Man injured in knife attack

A 38-year-old man suffered serious injuries to his face and hands following an altercation in Tea Gardens last week.

Police allege the man was confronted by three men near Spinifex and Billabong Ave, Tea Gardens around 1.15am on Saturday July 11.

An argument started between the men and police allege one of the offenders produced a knife.

A scuffle took place resulting in serious facial injuries and severe lacerations to the victim’s hands. Following the incident three men fled the scene towards Spinifex Ave.

About 3.30am, a 37-year-old Hawks Nest man was arrested at his home in relation to the incident.

He has been charged with recklessly inflict grievous bodily harm in company and was refused bail. He is due to appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court on July 29. Investigations are continuing regarding the identity of the two other men.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area or have any information regarding the incident to contact Port Stephens detectives on 4987 2222 or alternatively call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
