Those visiting the Myall Coat Medical Centre may have noticed a new face around the facility.
Dr Ian Weatherlake is the new resident GP at the centre and he brings with him a wealth of knowledge on the practice of rural medicine.
Dr Weatherlake brings 27 years of experience in rural and regional medicine and hopes to settle in Tea Gardens long term.
After completing his medical degree through the University of NSW, Dr Weatherlake worked in locations such as Kempsey, Albury/Wodonga and Apollo Bay in Victoria before moving to the area two weeks ago.
He also did a stint with the Royal Flying Doctor Service in then Kimberley region of Western Australia.
"It was a great experience but you've got to get used to the heat when you are doing it and I never got used to it," he said.
It is set to be a busy time for Dr Weatherlake, with his third child due to be born within the next few weeks.
Dr Weatherlake already has two teenage daughters, both of whom live in Albury, and said he was looking forward to the birth of his third child.
"It's an exciting time," he said.
"But all times are exciting when you're alive."
