09 Aug, 2006 03:57 PM
THE National Party has reaffirmed its election promise to review the boundaries and zones of the Port Stephens-Great Lakes Marine Park.

Myall Lakes MP, John Turner on behalf of the Forster-Tuncurry branch of the party raised a motion at the recent Nationals State Conference in Ballina which was debated and passed:

"That upon gaining government in NSW The Nationals review the boundaries and zones of all marine parks gazetted to date and amend the Marine Parks Act so that:

a) Community consultation occurs prior to the gazettal of any marine park; and

b) The Minister must take the results of such community consultation into account before determining zones and boundaries."
