New program encourages residents to shop locally

12 Mar, 2008 02:43 PM
Residents of Tea Gardens Hawks Nest are being encouraged to shop locally under a new program at Myall Quays Shopping Village.

The new program will involve market madness Wednesday which will start next week in order to get residents to use the facilities provided locally rather than going out of town to do their shopping.

On March 19 the centre will go green for the day in honour of St Patrick’s Day which will be celebrated on Monday, March 17.

Market madness Wednesday will be carried out each week with speciality stores in the village offering free prizes, spot discounts and surprises. The centre will also be adapting different themes on some weeks to keep things interesting.

“We are a family orientated, friendly shopping centre,” Anne Stewart said.

“It is important for residents to give shops in town a chance by having a look around locally,” Indigo Blue co-owner Sue Lawson said.

Everyday items and more can be purchased from the centre which boasts a full shopping centre with the arrival of a bakery within the coming weeks.
