Bulahdelah Central School inducted six new school captains and said goodbye to the old guard at a special assembly last Tuesday, June 26.
Federal Member for Paterson Bob Baldwin was on hand to help welcome the new leaders and assisted principal Bob Brenton in inducting the captains.
The two incoming captains, one boy and one girl, are Lisa Richards and Luke Jacobsen.
They take over from the outgoing pair of Adam White and Kimberley Spooner.
Vice captains Stacey Gregory, Dean Hyde, Kelsey Cook and Jake Longworth were also inducted, though both Dean and Stacey were absent from the ceremony because of varying commitments.
Outgoing vice captains Jacob Horton, Kelly Drinkwater, Sarah Clouten and Talise Finch handed over the badges to their replacements. The six officially begin their new leadership positions at the beginning of term three, taking some of the strain off the year 12 students as they prepare for the HSC.
Mr Brenton thanked the outgoing leadership group and said the new captains had a lot to live up to.
"The current captains have been outstanding leaders and great role models," he said.
"They have been a very active group in their dual role with the SRC (Student Representative Council) and have contributed considerable improvements around the school."
He said he expected their successors to be similarly productive.
"A large number of these students have already been involved with the SRC or other leadership groups. I have every confidence that they will continue on in the same vein," he said.
