 Pancakes before lent

Pancakes before lent

14 Feb, 2008 07:24 AM
“Patience, patience and love” is the way to make a great pancake according to the cooks at the Pancake Tuesday event held in Bulahdelah last Tuesday.

Of course turning them over when the mixture is just bubbling on the top always helps too.

To celebrate the day before lent begins St Brigid’s Catholic Church in Bulahdelah hosted the combined churches Shrove Tuesday event in the Uniting Church hall to keep out the rain.

“The event is becoming more popular each year,” event organiser Noelene Levey said.

Pancake Tuesday at Bulahdelah has been running for around five years and this year approximately 40 people enjoyed the pancakes covered in maple syrup and cream and cooked to perfection by Terry Griffis, Gemma Stace and Phil Harvey.

With Easter being early this year it was only decided to have the event at the last minute.

Organisation this year wasn’t a problem with a band of volunteers helping out.
