Plans for Jimmys Beach washed away

25 Aug, 2010 04:42 PM
HEAVY winds recently have raised concern over the rapidly eroding Jimmys Beach.

While there were talks of building a toe wall late last year to protect the beach from storm damage, Great Lakes Council’s manager parks and recreation, David Bortfeld said there were currently no plans in place for the immediate protection of the beach until funding could be secured.

To date council has continued pumping sand onto the beach to delay the erosion; however strong winds and heavy swells have proved it unsustainable.
