In pouring rain residents of Bulahdelah turned up on Anzac Day to remember those soldiers who had fought and died for their country.
The rain held off for the march, but it started to pour once people had gathered inside the School of Arts hall near the cenotaph for the main ceremony.
That didn't deter participants with those people unable to get a spot inside the building choosing to stand outside in the rain.
In a moving service organised by the Bulahdelah sub-branch of the Returned Services League (RSL) and led by Steven Rae, residents of Bulahdelah were able to focus their thoughts on the thousands of people who had fought in many wars, both past and present.
This year is the fist year since 2001 that the RSL has organised the service.
President of the Bulahdelah sub-branch, Eric Saville, said the day had "brought it back" to old members of the RSL.
The Bulahdelah Central School captains were asked to take part in the service and Mr Saville said there was a strong sense of commitment from the students in regard to the service.
Both Kimberley Spooner and Adam White, captains of the school, were eager to participate in the service.
"It's good to take part in Anzac Day because it helps in remembering," Kimberley said.
"It's important to remember," said Adam who plans to join the Australian Air Force next year.
