Recognised for 25 years of community service

13 Dec, 2007 07:30 AM
Over 70 people attended the 25 years of service celebrations at the Bulahdelah Bowling Club for the Bulahdelah Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Past and present members and their families joined in the celebrations.

Treasurer of the NSW VRA, Grace Matts and coordinator of the VRA in the Hunter region and uniform coordinator, Trevor Milgate were present along with members from the ambulance and police service.

Nationals’ member for the Myall Lakes, John Turner presented a Premier's award to the squad at the start of the anniversary dinner.

“The Volunteer Rescue Association of Bulahdelah is to be commended for the service it has provided within this community and further a field,” Mr Turner said.

“Receiving the premier’s community award is a tribute to the VRA personnel both past and present.

“The Premier’s award is recognition by the State Government for community work and by that also recognition by the people of NSW,” Mr Turner said.

Speeches from past and present members about the squad’s achievements and actions over the past 25 years followed the awards.

Most of the present members of the squad dressed up for the evening in official NSW VRA dress uniform.
