Senseless act shatters windscreen

05 Sep, 2006 12:58 PM
AROUND 4.30pm on Monday, August 21, Brian and Lynne Green of Tea Gardens were the victims of a senseless act whilst travelling north on the Pacific Highway at the Raymond Terrace bypass.

Approximately 200 metres south of the Richardson Road off ramp, a male walking on the southern edge of the roadway threw a blue metal post (similar to a guidepost) at the Green's motor vehicle, smashing the front windscreen and causing damage to the pillar. Fortunately the metal post did not push right through the windscreen, however it did shatter both occupants with glass.

The offender was last seen jumping the sound proof fencing on the bypass into Commodore Close. He has been described as wearing dark clothing. Senior Constable Anthony Smith from Karuah Police believes this is a serious matter and is appealing to the community for any information they may have regarding the incident that may help to identify the offender. If anyone has any information please contact Raymond Terrace Police on 4987 2222.
