SIMONE Miller of Tea Gardens has been eagerly awaiting her first day of Kindergarten at Tea Gardens Public school.
Simone said she was most excited about about making new friends, learning and having a fun.
"I'm very excited for her," her mother Kerrie Turner said.
"She is a happy kid who gets along with anyone."
Ms Turner said she was not sure if she would become emotional but there was a good chance as there were tears when her two older girls started school.
Kindergarten students have been starting in small groups from Tuesday onwards for a compulsory assessment of their literacy and numeracy skills.
The class of about 30 students will then start their official first day together on Friday.
"We're looking forward to them all coming," Tea Gardens principal Sue Estens said.
"They all seemed very happy and settled at the orientation day."
Mrs Estens said enrolment numbers were up a little from last year.
