A NINETEEN year-old male from Sydney has suffered spinal injuries after diving into the water at Bennetts Beach, Hawks Nest last Tuesday.

According to police friends found the man floating face down in the water after impacting heavily with the ocean floor.

The friends then assisted him to the sand where he complained of soreness in the back and was unable to move.

Two ambulances, Tea Gardens Police and a Westpac helicopter responded to the incident. The man was flown from the car park at the end of Beach Road Hawks Nest to Royal North Shore Hospital Sydney where he underwent emergency surgery.
