GREAT Lakes Council has commenced construction of the much anticipated skate park for Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest.
The skate park will be located at the northern end of Tea Gardens along Myall Way.
Several developments in the last few months have allowed this project to begin.
Hunter Readymixed Concrete has been most generous, donating concrete for the base of the skate park.
This donation translates into approximately $20,000 worth of materials for the project.
Hunter Readymixed Concrete has supported the development of a skate park for the Tea Gardens area since the location was confirmed approximately two years ago.
Site preparation has commenced and these immediate works will provide the Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest community with a long awaited recreation opportunity for a broad range of the population.
Great Lakes Council and the Tea Gardens Skate Park Committee are now working towards Stage Two works, which will include the purchase of pre-fabricated skate units.
Initial units will be purchased in the very near future, with remaining components being made available as funding permits.
