Residents of Hawks Nest will have to wait a bit longer for a new supermarket to open. Current legislation applies with the new application and this is holding up developments.
Under this legislation the applicants must provide council with an amended floor plan, provision for disabled toilets and a plan for deliveries to the supermarket.
Other issues must also be looked at before the application can continue. Applicants for the business, Garth Mason and Brenda Thompson, said they have not been given a time limit, but they still intend upon opening the shop in the near future.
“We are trying to open the shop as soon as possible,” Mr Mason said.
“We have received a lot of community support from the residents of Hawks Nest but are still looking for more.”
