Tea Gadens Library's $1000 from book sale

01 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
TEA Gardens Library has received $1000 from the Rotary Club of Myall Coast after their Giant One Day Book Sale earlier this month.

President of the rotary club Ian MacKenzie-Smith said the library approached the club a few years ago, asking it to help sell off surplus books at their book sale.

"They had seen how successful our book sales had been and thought it would be a good idea," Mr MacKenzie-Smith said.

Each year the club gives a donation to the library after the sale. With a particularly successful sale this year, members of the club were happy to be able to hand over a $1000 cheque last Friday.

Great Lakes library manager Chris Jones said rotary helping to sell off old library stock was a "fantastic model" which provided a win-win situation for everyone.

Mr Jones said the funds would go towards purchasing new books for the Tea Gardens Library.
