A PUB, tourism provider and handful of restaurants and resorts are among six Great Lakes finalists announced for the 2010 CountryLink North Coast Tourism Awards.
Up for a gong will be 3 Nippers Restaurant in Diamond Beach, Great Lakes Tourism, M Bistro and Bar in Pacific Palms, Pacific Palms Resort, Sevan Apartments in Forster and the Tea Gardens Hotel Motel.
This year the awards will honour two of the region’s tourism identities, the late Mick Crawley of Forster and Judith McGilvray of Coraki, by dedicating two awards in their name.
“We will honour these fine tourism leaders by dedicating the Young Achiever in Tourism Award to Mick Crawley and the Outstanding Contribution to Regional Tourism to Mrs McGilivray,” coordinator and executive officer for Mid North Coast Tourism, Belinda Novicky said.
Attracting more than 90 entries, 27 winners will be announced at a gala dinner in Coffs Harbour on Saturday, August 14 with special guest MC, Channel Ten weatherman, Tim Bailey.
The Manning Valley, Coffs Coast, Greater Port Macquarie, Clarence River and Byron Bay dominated the final line-up for the annual awards.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to honour those outstanding tourism businesses within our region,” Ms Novicky said.
“It is always strongly supported by all sectors of the industry and a great night of celebration not just for the winners but for our region and the tourism industry as a whole.”
