Tea Gardens mob set to go ‘Cruising for Charity’

12 Jul, 2007 08:48 AM
The Cruise for Charity 4 will feature a number of cars from Tea Gardens Hawks Nest this year.

The annual rally, now in its fourth year, features Holden Commodores from across the east coast of NSW, with all funds raised from the event donated to the Starlight Foundation charity.

Around 30 local residents will take place in the rally.

It is the first time anyone from the Tea Gardens Hawks Nest area has taken part in the event and expectations are high with the rally planned for Saturday, July 28.

Members of the Tea Gardens Hawks Nest contingent will leave early Saturday morning in their cars, travel down the Pacific Highway to Newcastle to meet up with yet another Commodore contingent and then proceed on to Homebush Bay, where the main rally will be held from 9am.

A large number of feature cars will be on display at Homebush for fans to view and admire, while participants receive a goodie bag and shirt.

From there over 650 commodores will travel in convoy to the Blacktown Greater Union Drive-in for an afternoon of fun and frivolity.

On hand for the younger participants is a jumping castle, while Captain Starlight will make a special appearance.

For the older participants, a barbecue will be held along with demonstrations from a number of car enthusiasts.

The cost of entry for the day is $15 per car, with all proceeds raised going to the Starlight Foundation.

Anyone interested in linking their car with the Tea Gardens Hawks Nest crew would be more than welcome.
