OUR small patch of paradise was broadcast into millions of homes on Thursday night in a channel 9 Getaway special.
The program featured some of our more unique attractions including the Riverside Art Walk, where host Catriona Rowntree caught up with local artist Lee Anderson.
Speaking with the Great Lakes Advocate during the show’s filming last year, Miss Rowntree said Tea Gardens has a unique “Aussie charm” about it.
“For me I am fascinated by the town that has looked for an opportunity to have a point of difference and pull people in and I am just delighted that they have tapped into their creative spirits to encourage tourism,” Miss Rowntree said.
The program featured a glimpse of coffee and cake at the award-winning Nicole’s Café and a chat with local identity Ollie Egan on the steps of the Tea Gardens Pub.
“This is a beautiful coastal town - I truly hope they protect what they have here. It is gorgeous just the way it is, I adore its Aussie charm.”
The program also featured a visit to the Sundowner Tiona Tourist Park in Pacific Palms where Miss Rowntree, kayaked on Wallis Lake and sampled a local seafood platter on Seven Mile Beach.
She also went for a mountain bike ride through the cabbage palms and relaxed with a coffee at the Boatshed Café.
“Without sounding like a dag it makes me proud to be Australian to know that if you can afford the campsite, you can reserve a place in one of Australia’s most beautiful and varied locations,” Miss Rowntree said.
