Great Lakes Council is calling upon the community to tell them what they think about local environmental issues.
Council’s annual survey ‘Who Cares about the Great Lakes Environment?’ seeks to gather information as part of this year’s State of the Environment Report (SoE).
The report is produced every year and provides an overall picture of the health of our local environment.
State of the Environment reporting also provides recommendations for council’s management plan for the allocation of resources.
“We want to hear what the community has to say about a range of environmental issues in the Great Lakes,” Great Lakes Council environmental officer April McKay said.
“The opinions of the community are really important when we are assessing the state of our natural environment.”
One hundred surveys will be sent to randomly selected residents across the local government area to help council determine community opinion on local environmental issues.
Additional surveys can be obtained through April McKay on 6591 7314.
Comments or information for inclusion in this year’s State of the Environment report are invited and should be directed to Great Lakes Council, PO Box 450, Forster NSW 2428 by August 31.
Results of this year’s Who Cares about the Great Lakes Environment survey will be made available to the public in December via the council website www.greatlakes.nsw.gov.au.
