Think pink for breast cancer

31 Oct, 2007 02:15 PM
The community of Hawks Nest Tea Gardens dressed in pink last week to raise money for breast cancer.

Local events were held throughout the week to raise awareness and money for the foundation.

“It’s such an important cause; you never know when somebody you know could be touched by cancer,” practice manager at the Myall Coast Health and Medical Centre, Barbara Stevens said.

The Myall Coast Health and Medical Centre hosted a breakfast on Tuesday, October 23, raising over $400 for the cause.

“Working in this profession we see patients with cancer.

“Events like this rally community support and awareness.

“It’s really important,” Barbara said.

Century 21 and Lazy Dayz Café hosted a morning tea on the Tea Gardens waterfront on Thursday, October 25. Over $250 was raised for breast cancer during the morning.

“It’s for a good cause, cancer affects everyone in some way, somehow,” Century 21 agent Suzy Moffitt said.

The Myall Coast Health and Medical Centre would like to thank BiLo, Indigo Blue, Budget Busters, Myall Fruit Barn, Tea Gardens Ice Cream Shop, Tea Gardens Hotel Motel, The Pie Man, Willy and Agnus Mok, Barb Bennett and all the patients who donated because they could not attend but wanted to pay for the breakfast.

Century 21 would like to thank Lazy Dayz Café and Nicole’s Art Gallery for their support.
