Last Thursday 35 local children with big smiles and crisp new school uniforms embarked on the first day of their journey through ‘big school’ at Tea Gardens Public School.
The new students all seemed eager to learn with play time high on their priority list of things to enjoy while they were at school.
Debbie Booth and Amy Telfer are again teaching the students.
“It’s a nice small group this year,” Ms Telfer said.
While there were no tears from the students throughout the day many went home very tired at the end; all seemed keen to come back the following day.
An extra demountable has been built at the school to cater for the expanding population and another class has been added.
“It is the highest number the school has had with children overall,” Ms Telfer said.
Mr True has also joined the teaching staff at the school from Newcastle.
The library extensions that were being carried out at the end of last term have been completed over the holidays and the last stage on the computer technology room is currently being carried out.
