THE truck driver charged over a horror Pacific Highway smash south of Bulahdelah in 2004, which killed three people, has been jailed.
Gimmi Morabito, 70, of western Sydney, was sentenced in Newcastle District Court to three years jail with a 15-month non-parole period.
He was driving a truck which killed 59-year-old Barbara Cheadle and her two granddaughters, Rebecca Campbell, nine, and Jessica Campbell, eight, on March 5, 2004. Their car was incinerated after it was crushed under the fully laden truck.
Morabito was found guilty in June of driving dangerously causing the death of the Campbell sisters and Mrs Cheadle.
