Two residents nominateed for Australia Day awards

TWO Hawks Nest residents are among those who have been nominated for the Great Lakes Citizen of the Year award which recognises an indivual's contribution to the community.

Both Lyn Reid and Bette Caunt's efforts have been nominated and the winner of the award is set to be announced on Australia Day at Club Forster in Forster.

Mrs Reid established the widely used Tea Gardens Community Technology Centre where she has played the role of vice president and president.

She has taken major responsibility for the redevelopment of the Gateway to the Myall Coast brochure as well and serving as vice president, president and treasurer of the lioness Club.

She has also been vice president, president and public officer of the Myall Art ard Craft Centre.

Mrs Caunt is a council volunteer driver who has been nominated for her polite nature and the way she works to deadlines.

Within her role she assists with peoples needs such as helping out on shopping trips, and also provides companionship.
