TEA Gardens Hawks Nest Motor Club was recently given the unique opportunity to inspect and admire a 1951 two-door convertible Packard in absolute pristine condition.
Belonging to a visitor from the Tamworth Vintage Motor Club, the owner drove his recently restored project from Tamworth to the Hawks Nest Golf Club where he gave a talk on Packard vehicle history.
The vehicle, inside and out looked as though it was brand new off the production line.
There wasn’t a dust or grease mark under the mudguards or in the engine bay.
Club members very much enjoy the comprehensive and very interesting history of this once famous USA automotive company presented by our visitor.
Packard’s were prestigious vehicles and known to have the best developed engines at the time.
This particular convertible was fitted with a straight eight cylinder engine, was perfectly balanced and ran very smoothly.
Local residents will have an opportunity to inspect the vehicle in a special display area as part of Motorfest 2010 on Saturday March 13 at the Hawks Nest sports oval.
