With school starting up again this week Vacation Care has ended for the holiday period with a record number of students attending the party day on Thursday, January 24.
A pinata, party games and lots of other fun activities kept the students entertained all day.
Four regular children from Sydney, whose parents enjoy the Vacation Care services to spend time kayaking on the Myall River, were in attendance in Thursday.
During the four week period that Vacation Care was running this holiday over 60 families utilised the service at Tea Gardens Public School.
The majority of the families were locals with a few holiday makers from Sydney and other areas coming along.
Each day a new activity was held for the children with excursions planned to add a bit of variety to the activities.
“I want to pay tribute to the local community for the support we received to make the holiday successful,” children’s services supervisor in Tea Gardens Louise Haynes said.
Special thanks to the many community organisations volunteered their time with the activities: Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Lifesaving Club, President Col Bell and the Tennis Club, Hawks Nest Real Estate, The crew on the Wally River Cruise, The members of the Myall Croquet Club, The staff at the Tea Gardens Library, Hawks Nest Golf Club, The Masonic Lodge with the community bus, Tea Gardens Public School and the groundsmen who helped out, The Anglican Church and the clown who visited, Great Lakes Council, The op shop, The Ice Creamery in Tea Gardens.
“Thank you to the community in general and the many promises of future interaction with more organisations volunteering to help out with activities,” Louise said.
While Thursday, January 24, was the most popular day among the children Louise said every day with the children was fantastic.
“The lovely behaviour of the children and the support and flexibility of the parents if we were late from excursions was wonderful,” Louise said.
Vacation Care will run again during the Easter holidays.
