A DAY dedicated to introducing Tea Gardens Visitor Information Centre volunteers to the town was held last month.
The purpose of the day was to become more familiar with the products, services and facilities of local businesses, in order to better advise visitors that seek guidance from them at the centre.
Our transport was provided by the Mason’s; thanks to bus driver Jim who ferried us safely around for the day.
The day began at Tea Gardens Marina and Hire where volunteers were shown their party pontoon, kayaks with foot pedals, hire boats and shop items.
Then it was across the road to view the lovely apartments at the Tea Gardens Boathouse.
A superb morning tea was served at the Tea Gardens Hotel.
Joy from the Simba II gave the volunteers vouchers to take a free cruise at a later date.
Then it was off to The Hermitage to view the new homes and the luxurious clubhouse, followed by the new BP Service Station, where workers were still busy with paint and bubblewrap.
The manager gave us a run-down on their operation including car and boat washing facilities and the Country Fried Chicken outlet.
Next, it was a quick stop at the surprisingly peaceful Tea Gardens Club Inn, before heading out to the Myall Shores Eco Resort.
A simply beautiful lunch was served on the deck of the restaurant at the resort, followed by a stroll around to view the very chic cabins and facilities.
Joined by centre manager Allan Freihaut, Great Lakes Tourism manager Richard Old and Chamber of Commerce event manager Shona Hunter Howarth an informative day was enjoyed by all.
Another similar day will be organised in a few weeks; businesses must be a member of Great Lakes Tourism to be eligible.
